Corb and the Hurtin' Albertans are heading to Las Vegas this month to do not one, not two, but THREE shows during the Wangler National Finals Rodeo. And the best part: All three shows are completely FREE!
The "Hooey Jam" shows take place at the Tropicana at 4 p.m. on Dec. 14, 15 and 16. Corb says the afternoon showcases give music fans an opportunity to check out the band before heading to the rodeo.
"I'm really looking forward to these shows because rodeo people are my kind of people," Corb says. "Folks who go to rodeos get it, and get me. They connect with my music because they live it, too. They have cows around, they know about being horse poor, and they know what it's like running a family ranch like the S Lazy H."
Western streetwear brand Hooey takes over Robert Irvine's Public House to present the Hooey Jam, which immediately follows the Bullfighters Only Championship at the Tropicana.
Corb heads to Las Vegas this week to check out the NFR action in advance of his shows. "I love rodeo and I love Las Vegas so I make a point of going to the NFR every year," he says. "Las Vegas totally transforms when the NFR comes to town, it's really something."
Indeed, Corb is no stranger to Las Vegas. He has spent a considerable amount of time in Sin City over the years, including a show during last year's NFR. But he likes to mix business with pleasure: He knows his way around the city's poker rooms, and he wrote a large portion of "Cabin Fever" in between card games.
Last time Corb was in town Vegas Seven compared him to Willie Nelson and Johnny Cash, calling him "a Sodbustin’ Shakespeare."
"Tall, bright-eyed and handsome, Canadian troubadour Corb Lund is that rare breed of indie-country artist who spins yarn with a poet’s eye," wrote Seven music critic Jarret Keene.
